Covid-19 is a serious health threat, and the situation is evolving daily. The following is Cow Bay Marina’s Covid-19 use guidelines, provided clarify and work with any and all municipal, provincial and federal guidelines, orders and recommendations. The Cow Bay Marina guidelines are provided to highlight how we work to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and requires careful care and attention from all users of Cow Bay Marina. Each client and their guests to Cow Bay Marina is personally responsible for reducing all risk factors for the spread of Covid-19, and must at all times act in good faith to follow all orders and guidelines from all governing authorities.

Arrival at marina and symptom screening 

Upon initial arrival at the marina all clients and guests must answer the BCCDC screening questions (provided on a separate page with these guidelines), before they are permitted to use the facility. If at any time you or a guest you are aware of develop Covid-like symptoms, you must immediate isolate away from marina common areas and alert marina staff and authorities.

While at the marina and social distancing

At all times in the marina social distancing is required, this requires all clients and their guests remain 2 meters (6 feet) apart. While members of a boat or household may act normally amongst each other; there is to be no gatherings on the dock and social distancing is required regarding all other clients and guests of the marina. As an added recommendation we advise all clients and guests to use masks and gloves while in the marina common space, washhouse facilities and docks.

Use of the washhouse and disinfecting facilities

All clients and guests of the marina, using the wash-house for any purpose MUST use the provided disinfectant to spray and wipe down all their points of contact (toilets, sink and counter, door handles, etc.). The marina will be performing a cleaning of the facilities daily, it is your responsibility to ensure you and your guests take appropriate precautions before and after use.

Covid-like symptoms and reporting

If you have any symptoms you must self-isolate and quarantine away from all common area use of the facility. This means remaining in your accommodations (onboard your vessel or at your hotel, etc) and IMMEDIATELY CONTACT 8-1-1, additionally phone marina staff to alert them of your symptoms.

At all times maintain 2 meter (6 foot) distancing from all people who are not your regular traveling companions.

Wear masks and gloves at all times

All clients and guests are expected to use hand sanitizers and hands washing regularly while they are using the facility. Especially for all washhouse use.

DO NOT GATHER ON THE DOCKS, even within your own traveling group. The docks are not available for social or other uses. All clients and guests are required to use the facility for mooring are expected to refrain from all gatherings.

NO INVITING GUESTS TO THE MARINA, we require that all clients ensure they are not inviting people to the facility that have not been approved by the marina staff; this includes workers for boat maintenance, friends or associates from the local community, or any other individuals that did not arrive with you upon the initial interaction with marina staff.

Marina office and payments regarding your moorage

While the office may be open and staffed it is recommended that all payments and inquiries be made over the phone.

The marina uses a secure third party payment service, there is no recording of payment card details.

For all other inquiries emails or phone calls will help to answer your questions.

Dock usage and moorage

Minimize all activities on the docks, while tourism is usually a large focus for the marina staff, this season all moorage is operational only. It is expected that clients will respect that the docks are for safe mooring of their vessel and the marina will be used as limitedly as they are able to manage. And only for the purposes of securing vessels.

On narrow docks it is important that all users what until other individuals finish loading onto or off of their vessels. These mooring docks do not have enough space for proper social distancing.

There are to be no gatherings on any of the marina docks, ramps, or in the washhouse.

No inviting guests outside your traveling group into the facility.

Handcart and wheel barrel use

Minimize the use of marina handcarts and wheel barrel.

Use hands sanitizer before and after use.

Marina restroom washhouse and laundry use

Use onboard facilities whenever possible.

These facilities may be closed at any time, without notice. While they remain open the following guidelines apply;

All users are required to make additional efforts in cleaning of the facilities. Guests must wipe down all surfaces before and after use.

There is to be no gathering in or at the washhouse, including waiting for use.

One person using the washhouse at a time. If someone is using the washroom or laundry you must come back at a later time.

After washroom use you are required to use the provided spray bottle to disinfect all touched surfaces, not only including toilet, sink, counter, shower curtain, door handle, etc.

For laundry users, there is to be no waiting in the washhouse for the load to complete. Put your load on to wash or dry and return promptly when the timer is complete. Then wipe down all surfaces before leaving the facilities.

If you must leave your boat

Most services in the local community are open or at least open with certain Covid-19 restrictions.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL TRAVELLERS; if you must leave your boat please respect social distancing guidelines and wear a mask and gloves in the community. While many locals may not be wearing masks, you have traveled from afar and Prince Rupert has had no outbreaks. The community has welcomed you here, however there is an ongoing risk of Covid-19 transmission from community to community. You are one of those risky transmission sources. While we do not believe you are a carrier, we respectfully ask that you act as if you are asymptomatic (have no noticeable symptoms). And while you are travelling around the community be overly mindful of social distancing and community contact points.

While you are in the community we ask that you record the points of contact you and your guests have. The marina has provided a notepad please use it to record locations and times in case you develop symptoms after your initial screening performed by marina staff. We and the community are very appreciative of your ongoing cooperation.
